Tracey Skinner is a multidisciplinary artist and creative producer whose creative journey has moved between performance, textiles, costume, movement and visual art.

Originally from Melbourne, Tracey spent her earlier years studying and working as a vocalist and dancer in Melbourne, London and Japan. A fascination with textiles, fashion and visual expression eventually led her into textile arts, further study in London and finishing up her study at RMIT.

 

Tracey’s visual practice is particularly drawn to screen printing, but she is happiest when experimenting with all kinds of making—from block printing and textile design to stitchery inspired by Kantha and Sashiko. Nature’s shapes and colours are a constant source of inspiration, while vintage and recycled textiles provide an endless supply of materials and stories waiting to be reimagined.

She is the artist behind Boardinghouse Studios, her small textile and print studio in Natimuk, where she creates hand-printed textiles and paper works alongside movement and creative activities.

​

Alongside her own practice, Tracey works as a creative producer and arts manager, helping bring artists, ideas and communities together through a range of arts projects and events.
